Is this machine have knives for food disposal? null

Hi marie. Thank you for your question. Model:SHPM78Z54N does not have a hard food disposer. Bosch dishwashers do not have or need a "garbage disposal" since Bosch dishwashers have a three stage filtration process which removes 100% of food particles from the wash water. Plus, the up to 162 degree wash and rinse water softens and breaks down foods. In fact, Bosch recommends users DO NOT PRE-RINSE your dishes prior to placing into dishwasher, simply scrap off the larger food debris and place "dirty" dishes into the dishwasher. The remaining food activates the enzymes in today's detergents for maximum cleaning results.

I think it relies on your sink disposer. A built-in disposer would be very noisy and this machine is nearly silent. The only way you can tell it is running is the red light it projects on the floor. But there is a lift-out filter screen you are supposed to clean monthly. That would catch the really large garbage. You should buy this machine with the 3rd (top, very shallow) cutlery tray, which is very convenient; and the crystal dry option, which works great. In fact, this is by far the best dishwasher we have ever owned.
