I can't see why it would matter where the water shutoff is. Most folks will be connecting to a sink where the drain hose goes, and you could have an extra water valve there. It has a water sensor in the bottom pan, which shuts off the incoming water if there is a leak. You can get a dishwasher water hose that shuts off if the water flow is too high. I suppose a plumber would want to install a shutoff valve near the dishwasher. I think that Bosch thought of just about everything.
