“Why does this Bosch junction box need to be installed in an adjacent cabinet. My old whirlpool dishwasher is hardwired and the junction box is in the dishwasher enclosure. New Bosch series 300 model has no heating element so heat should not be a problem.”

Bosch dishwashers have a plug receptacle in the rear that runs to a junction box, instead of being wired directly, and the junction box is rather large. Mine would not sit all the way back in the cabinet when I tried to slide it in place, and ended up moving it to an adjacent cabinet so it would fit correctly.

Per the Installation Instructions for our Dishwashers: After locating the proper place for your dishwasher, create required openings in your cabinets in order to allow for water, drain and electrical lines on the appropriate side.
