I wouldn't.... 70's receivers don't have AUTO OHM conversion.. You could easily blow the speakers out, and then you wouldn't be able to enjoy them.

Since the 161 speakers are compatible with any receiver rated between 10 – 100 watts at 4 – 8 ohms, this Marantz should work just fine. Thanks for the question!
