“My receiver only takes bare wire that you screw tighten in the back speaker input. Will the current Bose 301 speakers work with this? If they are setup to plug into receiver I think you would just cut off the plug and tighten the frayed wire to the input”

Bose 301 speakers have the bare wire spring clip connector on the back so you would need a length of speaker wire (size requirement determined by length needed, I typically use 16), but no cutting off of ends is needed.
