Exactly what I expected from Bose
||Posted .I wanted a bigger sound for my TV. I use a Bose system on my iMac so I decided to try the 301's for the TV. Great choice!! They deliver the deep, rich (loud) sound I've been looking for!!! Problem solved!!

I HAVE MET THE BOSE 301's AND WE LOVE MY MUSIC
||Posted .I have been an audio do-be since 33 1/3 /rpm's with over 300 vinals and 300 CD's. I have a serious sound set-up with home theater and the whole bit. My Acoustic Research Speakers gave out and I now have a Cambridge Sound Works configuration that I am very happy with, In my other casual reading room, my AR speakers sort of just got tiered and I had to replace them Over 20 years isn't bad. I have always been a BOSE Snob feeling that BOSE are over priced and purchased by people who wouldn't know a good speaker if they met one. After looking around at price points and vast aray of selections I decided to get the BOSE 301's. I figured it was just for easy listening so I won't be too fussy. The price point was right and it is a reputable firm. The next challenge was to find a stand to put them on. Well I found the SAMUS foundation stand. The configuration works perfectly and the sound id wonderful from my 1950's Dixieland to Godspell, To Joan Baez on into my Irish music collection and the 1812 Overture. The stand and 301's look like a single unit and the height is perfect, And the sound is perfect to my ear. If you are looking to fill a room with your music and unless you are ready to take your music with you when you go shopping for a book shelf size set of speakers I would strongly recommend the BOSE 301's. With the SANUS stand you don't need to put them on a book shelf or table. You can place them anywhere in the room for best performance and room layout. I have met the BOSE 301's and we get along just Great !! :) We ENJOY our music.

The Bose speakers are outstanding
||Posted .I bought a pair of Bose bookcase speakers so as to be able to have a high quality sound for my classical music collection and for the classical music station that I listen to. The Bose speakers fill the living room with a rich and clear sound. The music is almost as good as if I were in the concert hall. I would recommend Bose to anyone who wanted high quality sound reproduction. The buying experience at Best Buy was also top notch. Excellent and well informed assistance from the sales rep.

Nice!!
||Posted .Great speakers, mid bass is cool too... Bought stands for them also, don't want $300 plus sitting on the floor... You'll hear vocals clearly, music sounds nice... But I wish they upped the ante on the low bass, come on for 3 bills, gimme more punch for the money... Buy a subwoofer... Anyways, I've seen reviews on these speakers, I'm most impressed by how long they actually last. Some folks have had them for over 10 years, that's a major plus...

Awesome Speakers
||Posted .These speakers are flat out awesome. I got them to replace my Sony rear speakers and compliment my front Bose speakers. My setup is almost complete. I am thinking of getting another set of these to replace my floor speakers. Unfortunately Best buy does not carry the stand for these speakers, but I found them cheap on Amazon.

Perfect Speakers
||Posted .Beautiful sound. The model has been around for 20 years: Such perfect quality, no need for Bose to change model numbers. I good and simple rcvr/amp with proper ohm 4- 6- 8. I've purchased three of these pairs for various purposes over the last 20 years, and have never yearned for anythingelse [exxcept Martin Logan - magnet plates speakers - though I don't have $4000 for those yet. Also works great as front speakers in a surround sound setup. Highly recommended

great sound for a reasonable price
||Posted .I am a fan of Bose stuff. I think these speakers represent a great value. I am using them currently mounted on the wall in the garage, but they have also been used as rear surround speakers in my living room. I think Bose is smart and eq's out the range their speakers do not play well, which is what makes them sound so good, as you never hear anything that sounds bad. These are not world ending speakers, but a great sound quality for the money.

Best speakers ever!
||Posted .I have waited 38 long years for my Bose speakers. Listened to some 901's long ago, but could never really find the room for them. Well a long awaited birthday gift to myself. My 301's look perfect with my hardwood furniture and were by far the best bookshelf size speakers that myself and wife compared to all available. Dont put it off like i did, your ears deserve the best reproduction of your music collection.

Q: QuestionCan I attached the Bose® 301 Series V Direct/Reflecting Speaker System directly to my Samsung LCD TV? or do I need a reciever?Bose® 301 Series V Direct/Reflecting Speaker System
Asked by Mak.
- A:Answer To get the most from the Bose 301 speaker system, run them through a good quality amplifier ( or receiver ). You need the extra power that the TV alone can't provide, to make these speakers really ":sing".

Q: QuestionCan you connect to a cd player for speaker use and how difficult would this be?Can you connect to a CD player and how difficult would this be?
Asked by MaryJo.
- A:Answer Thank you for your question! The Bose 301 Series V speaker is a passive speaker, so you would have to use a non-Bose receiver/amplifier in order to power them. Once you have your speakers connected to the receiver/amplifier using speaker wire you would need to connect your CD Player into a stereo line input using an RCA stereo cable. If you need any assistance with getting this set up, please contact Bose Product and Technical Support at 1-800-711-5772 - 8:30AM-10:00PM M-F, Sat 9-7:00 EST.

Q: QuestionIs the 150W rating of the 301 per speaker or for both speakers?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi, thanks for your question. The 301 V speakers are rated at 10-150 Watts Per Channel, 4-8 Ohms (each speaker). We hope this helps!

Q: QuestionPower and ImpedenceI have an onkyo HT-S8400 home theater system with a 5.1 set-up instead of a full 7.1 that its capable of. The receiver has a 130watt per channel output with 6-16 ohm impedance. I want to replace the original onkyo speakers with new Bose component speakers. I want to purchase the Bose 161 speakers that are rated at 10-100 watts per channel for the surround L/R with 4-8 ohm impedance. For the front L/R speakers I want to buy the Bose 301 speakers rated at 10-150 watts with 4-8 ohms per channel. I will keep the onkyo subwoffer (own power supply) and the onkyo center channel (no bose alternative). BTW the original onkyo speakers were all 6 ohm and 130 watts. My main concern is that the 161 and 301 Bose speakers have a 4-8 ohm rating, does this mean that these speakers will sometimes demand 4 ohms or will they work with the 6-16ohm receiver? Do I run the risk of frying my receiver? The other concern is that the the 161 has a 10-100 watts while the receiver throws 130, can this damage the speakers at high volume? The 301 has 150 watts but the receiver again is only 130watts, does this means I can't use the 301 to their full potential? I am thinking these values are RMS anyway but it doesn't hurt to ask. Also I run 12 gauge wire for all my speakers since wires are 20-30 feet, but I don't think this will fit into the 161 or 301 speaker rear ports. Please let me know if these bose speakers will be a safe purchase with this receiver. My others worry is that since the 301s are reflexcing speakers with a purpose to fill the room with stereo sound, will this be detrimental to a HT set-up as it will make the sound ubiquitous rather than seem as if the sound is coming from the right or the left respective to the onscreen performance? One has to place the 301s at least a foot off the wall perpendicular to them to allow the reflexing technology to work, but what is the best distance? I think I will have to measure the trajectory of the 301 rear speaker sound wave (based on the principle: angle of incidence is equal to angle reflection) and trace the wave to see where is lands on the listening area. Also, the bose floor stands for the 301, will they hide the 12 gauge wire in the shaft? In addition, will the floor stands, with a fixed height of 2 feet, be high enough for optimal listening (Our sofas place our ears at approx 30-36 inches). Based on the 30-36 inches, at what height should I mount the 161 to be used as L/R surround speakers (the room is a perfect rectangle with a horizontal listening area of 30-36 inches in height). Also, what angle below the horizontal should I lower the 161 to face the listening area? Thank you for your time and expertise, Singh
Asked by Singh.
- A:Answer Hi Singh. The impedance specifications of the 161 and 301 speakers refers only to their compatibility with a receiver. Since the Onkyo is compatible with any speakers rated between 6 and 16 ohms, you will not run into any problems. You are correct in your statement that the receiver is putting out 130 watts RMS. Since the 161 speakers are being used as surround speakers, they will not be playing all the time and not at an extremely high volume level. We don’t see any issues with the setup there, either. Regarding the wattage rating of the 301 speakers, the difference between 130 and 150 watts is extremely negligible. We doubt you’d be able to hear a difference at all. 12 gauge speaker wire is a rather thick gauge for a run of this length. Signal loss is not a concern in this situation, so dropping down to a 16 or 18 gauge wire would be our recommendation, since you may have difficulty connecting a wire of that thickness to the speakers. Although the 301 speakers use our Direct Reflecting technology, this will not impact their quality in a home theater set up whatsoever. The receiver handles the duty of directing sound to the proper speaker positions so therefore the surround sound effect will be preserved. In reference to the floor stands and wire thickness, our suggestion would be to change your wire gauge to something smaller. Due to internal design of the 301’s, the 24 inch height of the floor stands should be sufficient for your listening position. The height of the ceiling in your room should dictate how high to mount the 161 speakers, but the general rule of thumb is about 18 to 24 inches above ear level. At this height, a slight downward angle of 15 to 25 degrees would be acceptable for the rear speakers in your setup. We hope this information is helpful for you. If you are located withing the U.S. and require further assistance, feel free to contact our support group at 1-800-711-5772. Thanks!

Q: Question301 bose speakers set up help.I have bought a 301 reflective speakers from bose recently ,my book shelf is 7feet high can i place them above that , while my sitting position is about 3.5ft at a distance of 10 ft from the book shelf? my ceiling height would be 10ft.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer This type of speaker placement could be considered less than ideal. While the speakers should fill your room with sound from this position, audio quality may be compromised while in your seated position. A better solution may be to use either our floor stands or wall brackets designed for the 301 speakers. Wall brackets can be purchased here through Best Buy. Floor stands can be ordered through our technical support group at 1-800-380-4831. Thanks for the question!

Q: QuestionWill it plug directly into your TV?
Asked by Psalm100.
- A:Answer In order for these speakers to play the sound from your TV, you will first need to purchase a stereo or home theater receiver. The receiver would provide power for the speakers and it will also allow you to connect your TV sound so that it plays through the speakers. You will need to make sure that your TV has an audio output and also that the receiver has the same type of audio input connection. Thank you for the question!

- A:Answer Glad you asked, that's a powerful amp and if you like to "turn it up" you may damage the speakers or the amp. We do not recommend it.
