You will be able to draw enough base from the receiver adjustment. A sub woofer would unnecessarily distort the reflective acoustic properties of the speakers. But if you absolutely must? Any hi-quality powered sub will do.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I already had both, and love the combination. I haven't tried the setup without the subwoofer or center channel speaker, but in the past I was very happy with just the two speakers and the sound they produced, but that was not the Series V.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I tried with and without a sub. For my concern, it is much better with a sub. I don't have a center. not necessary
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have 301s .. 4 inwall 161s and vcs10 center with dual polk subs. Can not go wrong.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 301 Series V are a set of Stereo Bookshelf speakers. They can be used with a 2-chanel stereo receiver for music listening, or combined with a center speaker, rear-speakers (such as our 161 speakers) and a subwoofer for use in a 5.1 Surround sound setup with a home-theater receiver. Both scenarios are well suited to these bookshelf speakers.
