• Thanks for your question. The Bose Companion 2 Series III Multimedia Speaker System can be used with sources other than a computer. The speakers feature an auxiliary input on the back that would allow you to connect a smartphone, tablet, or MP3 player.

• Depends on what outputs you have on the MP3 player and then using the correct adapter cable to get to 3.5mm stereo input. If it has bluetooth you can use the Logitech - Wireless Bluetooth Speaker Adapter with a RCA to 3.5mm adapter.
