“I need a longer cable, about 6-7 feet to go from the Bose-Companion 2 Series III Multimedia speaker to my Mac mini. Is there something available that is about 6-7 feet long and if so what do I order? What is it called? Thanks”

3.5 mm stereo extender cable That description will give you a three conductor, female to male cable, in the correct size. I was unable to find it on Best Buy's website, but it did work on several competitor's sites.
