Hi, Both versions of these headphones will play audio and take calls on most devices, regardless of brand. The specific differences are in the volume controls. Depending on which set you buy, your in-line volume +/- controls will work with either Apple or Samsung devices. We would suggest choosing them based on whichever device you use most often when on the go. Hope this helps!

The headphones work in the sense that you can plug them into the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack but you have to control the volume within your phone. The volume up and down buttons on the headphone cord did not change the volume using the YouTube app. Oddly the middle button did pause the video.
