Yes, I have used them to listen to an audio book while mowing. I also took a phone call while mowing and it worked great. The person I was talking to said they could hear me fine even though the mower was running. I don't know how, but they worked.

They will reduce the noise substantially....but not to zero. I use them for the same purpose and it makes riding the mower a non-issue.....plus I plumb in some music and it makes cutting the lawn something I actually enjoy

If the noise is too loud, it won't cancel it completly, but it's still going to reduce pretty well most of it. And the quality will continue to be a high, for my standards at least.

Absolutely. I use them all the time on my John Deere....great music sound quality, no tractor noise. I tried them at a NASCAR race a few weeks ago.....omg, they cut the sound by 70%.... without them, the sound of 42 stock cars in a pack is completely deafening. I have never heard a noise louder anywhere than that. Which includes factories, jet aircraft, F18 Superhornets 300 feet above my head at full thrust......nothing came close to the NASCAR sound. Nothing. The music does not degrade at all....you will love them.
