As for the airlines, many are now moving to a wireless, use your own device, for connecting to entertainment on the plane. In those instances, you can use BT to connect to your own unit or you can use the enclosed airline plug that comes with the headphones and connect to it using the wires which also come with the headphones.

So yes, you can use them in flight wired to the seat jack. And the acoustic noise cancelling still works while wired and actually extends your battery life slightly
