The left and right earbud surfaces are the same, but the controls vary depending on whether you are listening to audio or on a phone call. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Volume cannot be adjusted however you can select between quiet mode or wear mode Etc with a tap on the earbud. You can also select to stop and start music or answer the phone by tapping. There are other customizable features to the headsets
