yes it can be used for casual listening or streaming. the sound quality is amazing too.

I purchased the JBL partybox and it was good, but being Bose fan also, I was not feeling it as compared to Bose sounds. So I swapped it out the next day, and there was major change in the sound. However, if you buy a pair, which I did, it just changes the whole ball game. Plus, depending on how you place it on the floor, as it has different placement options for different sounds, Good as a unit, best as a pair !
