• There's digital optical output. It will make great surround sound and make base sound. It doesn't make loud deep base sound but for me it's enough to enjoy with my movies.

• Yes. I have mine hooker up with the digital optical output. I use it in my bedroom and its great. I think bedroom or smaller room use is ideal.
