Thank you for your inquiry. The Solo 5 TV Soundbar was engineered to be used as a standalone soundbar. It was designed to be a simple solution to provide great sound for your TV shows and movies, without the need for a complicated home-theater setup. This speaker does not have the ability to connect to external speakers or subwoofers. The coaxial port you are referring to is a digital coaxial audio input, designed to receive digital audio from TVs and/or other source devices. We hope this helps!

Incredibly, the very compact Solo 5 has amazingly strong, pleasant, undistorted base totally suited for conversational TV and movie watching. And if you turn up the volume and adjust the control for stronger base, you'll get more than enough base blasting power for a rock party. Noticeable but weak stereo separation, but that's the reality of such a small inconspicuous sound bar. No, you cannot hook up a subwoofer, but there's really no need for a subwoofer. If you want an screaming emersion surround sound audio system, don't buy a Solo 5.
