I too had an older Bose system. I'm impressed with the sound improvement. Definitely worth investing in the Solo 5.

No, I don't think so. It is an improved sound bar. But it's $250 and I don't think it improves the sound that much to justify the expense. The Solo 5 is a decent bar. Enjoy until you can step up to a model like the Cinemate 15 Sound system that has a stand alone base.
