• Hello, Mort. The Solo 5 TV sound system will power off after 60 minutes of inactivity. You can adjust the system to power on whenever a sound signal is received. To do so, you'll want to press and hold the Power button on the remote for five seconds until you hear a tone to toggle between auto-wake and default power settings. The status indicator glows dim amber when the soundbar is off and auto-wake is enabled. We hope this helps! Ashley - Bose Support

• If your television supports it, go into the speaker settings and change the speaker output to optical or whatever other setting your tv has. Just change it from having the sound come from the tv.
