My husband is very hard of hearing.(no hearing aids). Maybe take your mom to your local Best Buy so she can listen to it to see if it helps her. They had one set up in the store we shop at.
A:AnswerYes I had the same set up and was never satisfied with my TV sound for dialogue. I have a 60 inch plasma tied in to an amp with 5 surround speakers. I had to connect this sound bar directly to my cable box to use the optical connection. I could use it exclusively for the tv but just activate it for dialogue intensive programs. Wow it really helped! And has a special setting for dialogue clarity! Worth it!
