This one needs to be charged because it is amplified. Any speakers that don’t require a charge will not be very loud because they will be running only on the wattage your device puts out.

You might consider the SoundTouch 10 if you would like longer continuous play from a speaker via Bluetooth. Though not portable, it is also Wi-Fi enabled should you wish to connect to your home wireless network.
