• These aren't noise cancelling. Though the earcups do a good job in blocking outside noise. Noise cancelling headphones are still a lot better.

• I would definitely go for the noise cancelling. These were great but they let in some of the noise from the plane cabin that forced me to increase the volume level so I could feel like I was ignoring the rest of the plane.
