“Can it be used with a non-activated iPhone? I keep all my music on an older iPhone, and am wondering if the bluetooth on it will work again if it's connected to wifi, maybe? I'd only use this at home anyways. Thanks in advance!”

Bluetooth & Wifi are two "different" wireless means for connection. it should still work for scanning devices for paring.. via (bluetooth) Wifi is better for streaming music or video thru apps. like Pandora or Netflix.
