Mine does the same thing. My guess is that initially the speaker works from the battery then when the battery needs to be charged it checks to see if there is power and then provides the charge. Note, if you keep listening for long periods of time the charge indicator will stay green when connected to the base after that initial switch to amber for a while.

Once the battery reaches a full charge, it will stop charging and switch to using battery power instead of DC power. After the battery depletes a bit, power is restored to bring it back to a full charge. If you have any further questions, please contact our technical support team who can assist.
