• When an iPhone is connected, you can pause, play, and change the volume of the speaker through the phone and not have to touch the speaker. (I am not sure about android) You will have to manually turn on the speaker, but after 15 minutes of inactivity, it turns off by itself.

• Yes, through bluetooth. Once connected to bluetooth you go to your music apps and it will transmit to the bose.
