“Can you wear one earbud at a time and still work just fine? Say I’m wearing the right on it goes dead, so I put it in the case to charge, can I take the left one out sync it up with my phone no problem. That way I can alternate them.”

Sorry but no you can't. The right ear bud is the master and the left is the slave. If you want to ware only 1 earbud it has to be the right.
