Is this unit totally wireless? null

No, it does have bluetooth, but is connected by either an optical cord (provided) or an HDMI card (not provided) and is plugged into an outlet.

Only needed plug to power outlet and one from the Bose to the back of the TV

No, it needs to be connected via HDMI as well as to power.
