So that the speakers can be bi-amped. Powering the low-frequency bass speakers (woofers) separately from the high-frequency treble speakers (tweeters) in a sound system by using two audio amplifiers. The frequency range for each speaker must comply with its design parameters. Crossover networks are provided in the speaker to do that which is bypassed when the speaker terminals at the back are driven separately.
