We've used amplifiers ranging from 60W all the way up to 500W. We'd recommend staying away from using an AVR to power these speakers. Look for a good integrated amplifier, a dedicated pre-amplifier with a separate amplifier or add a separate amplifier to an AVR if you already have one.
