Hello,
These speakers mount about 5.2 inches into the wall. A standard stud bay should have enough space to accommodate them. 
As for the amp, we normally pair our speakers with Denon, Marantz, and Classe amps. We would advise against going too cheap on an amp as that will affect sound quality. Denon has a few options that are economical while still delivering quality sound.
