Hi Dean, The back of your phone has to be exposed in order for the wireless charging to work best. In some cases a very thin case can still work but it is not recommended. -Bracketron Support

It works great with my otter box "Commuter" model which is a thinner style of the Otter box family.

Yes it will work with OtterBox I currently have an OtterBox on top of my Samsung S7 and it is charging as we speak
