“If i want to brew additional cups of coffee after the first cycle (let's say they want more) is it ok to just add water to the reservoir? Do i need to press the brew button again or will it brew on its own after I add the water?”

I would turn if off, wash out the pot and go through the cycle of coffee, water, on and brew just like you did before. Once it has finished the brew cycle, it is finished. Green light flashes while brewing and turns steady green once done.
