What’s this $1200 Espresso maker do, that the $700 espresso machine doesn’t. I mean, they both make espresso & froth milk. So why should I pay almost double? Thanks for any insight. DudeDad null

I would say for the same reason some buy their coffee from Starbucks and not the gas station.  It's a much better overall experience.

After 10 years my $700 model gave out and I decided to upgrade to the $1200 one.  I asked the same question and had my doubts as well.  They both do the same thing but it's how they do it.  It's a much smoother process, more efficient, and less mess.  The coffee comes out perfect each time because it monitors the temp, water flow, grind size, etc.

Both are great machines but if I were to look back 5-10 years from now, I will be much happier that I spent the extra $$ for a much better overall experience.
