Does the oven heat up on outside a lot null

Yes, The oven is not insulated, therefore it heats up on the outside "a lot". We have it sitting on a side-board with several inches of open space on all sides. I would not store paper or anything flammable next to it. It does an excellent job both as a toaster oven, broiled and small oven for 2-3 people. I would highly recommend it.

It does get hot on the outside, so you have to be careful not to touch the outside when you open the door.
