The "DRUM" holds excess spent toner so it fills up and needs to be replaced. What doesn't make sense is why Best Buy doesn't sell just the drum (without toner) as it is much less expensive that way.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The drum unit, part number DR730, is a consumable item that requires periodic replacement. There are many factors that determine the actual drum life, such as temperature, humidity, paper type, and how much toner you use for the number of pages per print job. The estimated drum life is approximately 12,000 pages when printing on Letter or A4 sized paper. The actual number of pages your drum will print may be significantly less than these estimates. Because we have no control over the many factors that determine the actual drum life, we can't guarantee a minimum number of pages that will be printed by your drum.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This makes no sense why brother & Best Buy says it needs to be replaced. It’s just a piece of plastic that the toner fits in. The answer of “it wears out because it wears out” is just non-sense.
