The LCD screen takes a bit of practice to get the hang of. Basically, the default shows you the alphabet...but using the arrows, you can to move the cursor down to that bottom rt choice where you toggle through the choices of alpha, numbers, or symbols. You can change lower to upper case using that bottom left button. It's like texting on an old nokia phone without t9 function, lol. Keep pressing the key until you get the one you are going for. Remember to pay attention to where the cursor is. That is what will determine what happens when you toggle. To back up, you have to move over to the < symbol. To delete move over to the delete symbol, etc. However, to avoid all of that-- I went to the support.brother.com device setup website instead, registered, got a temp PW, and then changed it from the computer to my permanent one. Much simpler.
