• The Brother MFC-J995DW automatically enters a "sleep" mode when not in use to conserve power. The Brother MFC-J995DW uses either LC-3033 Super high-yield OR LC-3035 Ultra high-yield ink cartridges. The black ink is pigment-based and the colors are dye-based.

• 1) It goes into standby mode and will wake up when you print to it. 2) I believe it can use both the normal and high yield ink cartridges as both are listed as supported by the printer. 3) The black ink is pigment and the color inks are water based dyes.
