The critical question for me was: "how much clearance behind the unit is needed?" The answer(s): - only 2" for hinged access to flatbed scanner. - 5" for hinge to access toner cartridges. - 7" to flip down rear special-printing door. Bottom line: allow a total of 27" for depth of unit if backing up to a wall.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The measurement of this printer from front to back is 19-1/2 inches so round up to 20 inches for footprint.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When printing card stock, envelopes and other thick papers the back needs to be opened to prevent paper jams. Allowing about another 8" at the back will allow you to print these items without moving the printer. Some owners have their printers on a mobile cart and pull it away from the wall when the back needs to be opened. There is a detailed manual (468 pages) on line which covers the "how to's" in greater detail than the one sent with the printer in case you're interested.
