My opinion is that it doesn’t matter because I air print and it wakes up to print and goes into like a sleep mode when you aren’t using it. I’ve bought a second one now for my daughter in law. It’s my 4th or 5th Brother printer and I like this one the best even though all of them are way better than the HP ones I used to get!

Each individual component is designed to work with the others to ensure quality and reliability. Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drums and toners for best results. 2. What types of documents do you typically print on your machine? For example: - Text documents (such as letters and memos) - Spreadsheets - Graphics (such as photos and internet pages) Certain types of documents, such as graphs, charts, and large print jobs will use more toner than smaller, text-only documents. 3. What is the average size of your print jobs? For example, one or two-page print jobs throughout the day will use less toner than larger print jobs frequently throughout the day. 4. There are several factors to consider when understanding toner yield: a. Brother toners are produced with a specific amount of toner to yield the following: - TN starter toner cartridge: approx. 1,000 pages (Letter)* - TN223BK standard toner cartridge: approx. 1,400 pages (Letter)* - TN223M, TN223C, TN223Y standard toner cartridges: approx. 1,300 pages (Letter)* - TN227BK high yield toner cartridge: approx. 3,000 pages (Letter)* - TN227M, TN227C, TN227Y high yield toner cartridges: approx. 2,300 pages (Letter)* *The approximate toner yield is in accordance with the testing protocol ISO/IEC 19798 (Letter). The testing protocol involves continuous printing of a 5% coverage sample page of text. Users who typically print documents with a toner coverage higher than 5% should expect a lower page yield per toner cartridge. b. The actual amount of toner you get out of a cartridge is dependent upon multiple factors: - What you print (small memos, long documents, graphics, spreadsheets/reports) - Amount of toner coverage per page - Size of each print job (number of pages per print job) c. Printing at about 5% coverage short memo or letter with approximately 150 characters will allow the maximum yield from a toner cartridge. Print jobs with graphics, charts, and/or large amounts of solid toner coverage will use much more toner and will reduce the page yield of the toner cartridge. If you print at 10% coverage, the overall page yield of a toner cartridge is significantly reduced.
