Are the scans searchable? Are they PDF's? null

Yes the Brother MFCL3780CDW does support scanning documents as searchable PDFs.

Scans are PDF format. I suppose they are searchable - it would depend on where you send them. I have found using a dedicated thumb drive works best for me and then I transfer them when I name them in a file on OneDrive
