True. the machine even has its own memory, so you can store stuff that you scan.

Stand alone, you can use their application or website tool to design patterns and then save them to a USB drive and take to the unit. The unit has 100s of patterns pre-loaded and you can scan directly to the unit and produce patterns that way. Overall its a nice little unit that doesn't need a computer to operate.
