Ink was included when I purchased it! Ink is expensive & even buying 3rd party ink on Amazon is still quite a bit more than other printers....However I should tell you, with my HP all in one printer(s), I’ve had quite a few, any time there was a windows update my printer took a dive but brother has held up with no issue even through the problemsome updates revolving around the windoes10 upgrades.

The Brother MFCJ497DW comes included with LC3011BK/C/M/Y Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow Starter Ink Cartridges‡.
