- Answer From what I could find on the web, no. About every other Brother printer has refillable cartridges but not this one.

QuestionI have a brother work smart MFC-J895JW printer. I run out of Ink very fast and do not print many copies. Can this printer run on just black ink. And if so please tell me how I do not use yellow red or blue.yet they say they are empty. ????

- Answer The MFC-J497DW can operate in a B&W Print only (black and white) mode when one or more color ink cartridges are empty.

- Answer Hi, the printer lists standard yield and high yield varieties. For standard, it says LC3011 BK/C/M/Y and for high yield it says LC3013 BK/C/M/Y. I'm including a photo in case it helps.

- Answer I HAVEN'T HAD TO DO A CLEANING AS YET. I REMEMBER UNDER GENERAL SET UP PRESS MAINTENANCE, OK USE THE UP & DOWN ARROW AND SELECT CLEANING, OK PRESS THE UP AND DOWN ARROW TO SELECT THE BLACK OR COLOR INK OR BOTH, OK

QuestionJust wondering if you can set the ink to just the “black” when printing? Also, if an ink cartridge such as Magenta needs replaced do we have to replace the color cartridges?

- Answer Yes, the Brother MFC-J497DW can be set to print only black. You change the settings in the Brother software to print with black ink only (gray-scale). If you print with black ink only, the other ink cartridges must have ink for the printer to print. When an ink cartridge is depleted, you must replace it before you can print.
