We recommend baking your pies and bread in the lower oven. The heating element may be slightly too close to the pie and burn it. The approximate height dimension between the lowest rack position and broil element (usable space): Upper oven - 5.9" and in the Lower oven - 11". Please take a look at page 20 in the manual for baking suggestions. You can access the manual on Best Buys site and on our geappliances.com site.
