I wouldn't say noisy but certainly more so than I would have thought for the price - several people have mentioned it may be a faulty or unbalanced fan. Mine is nowhere near that level. When the house is quite and if standing in the kitchen you can hear it but then again you can also hear the water lines and the AC when it kicks in - the beauty of a 80 year old house - I suppose it depends on what you had before. It'll certainly be drowned out by the living room TV in an open floor plan.
