• yes, i have used 3-4 different brands wihtout any issue as i have no loyalty to one over another. Have not had any issues with jams or otherwise

• No, this printer does not support any glossy photo paper I know. I tried some glossy HP photo paper and the image was a mess. I consulted Canon about the issue and they claim it's not intended to be used as a photo printer. A matte type paper may work, I did not try that.
