“According to Best Buy's product page, this printer comes with the low-yield toner set, not some starter set as others have indicated. If true, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy another printer rather than buy the low-yield replacement toners?”

Printer comes with following set of 4 starter cartridges as per specs and not hi-capacity cartridges. Cartridge 046 CMY Starter 1,200 Yield Cartridge 046 K Standard 2,300 Yield The cost of 4 basic cartridge 046 Black, CMY is more than $350 on best buy site. Hence it is cheaper to buy this new printer that comes with the cartridges! The cost of Hi-Capacity Cartridge 046 is $20 more for each,, ie total would be more around $450.

The reason we bought this printer is one of our close friends owned it now for over a year and the love it. I also did a ton of research on the printer. As for the ink there is 2 different cartridges you can buy for the black and the color. They normal one is a normal yield and there is a high yield cartridge. But we replaced our HP with this printer and HP has the same thing there is a high yield and normal yield cartridges. As for the ones that come with the printer our friends told us they lasted around 6 months and they run a business from their house. All cartridges you buy or that come with the print tells you the yield but from our experience those are an average. It all depends on what you are printing and how dark and vibrant the colors you are printing. Go to Canon’s website and they have more detail.
