You will definitely need a much bigger mm lens for log distance closeups. You can get the shots with this camera and lens, but it’ll be far away. I recommend the 55-250mm or the 55-300mm if you plan on zooming in to see their faces or hitting/catching that sporting object, this is an excellent camera. You can even pair it with your phone and automatically save all your photos to your phone, where you can easily download to your computer or send straight to your printer or both. The third photo below shows the most it zooms with the lens contained in this package. This was taken at a distance of approximately 20-25ft.
