• This will be determined by your lens choice and aperture settings. An aperture of 1.2-1.8 will create the burry background. The kit lens does not have the ability to make that happen this is a photo with the canon EF 50mm 1.4 lens

• The effect you’re looking for is a bokeh effect, and yes, you can get a decent bokeh with this camera. I’ve attached a couple of examples, taken using Scene Auto mode with the kit lens.
