“Which is the best camera as a starter DSLR? I'm looking into getting my first DSLR, is this a good start? I know someone who owns a Nikon, it takes amazing pictures but I know theirs is a little more advanced. Any input would be appreciated!”

I highly recommend the T5 as a first DSLR camera. The price doesn't kill you, it is user friendly, and takes great pictures! My wife, and my mother, both have the T5, we all 3 recommend them. Consider getting the 58 mm UV filter with it, it cuts down on haze, and protects your lens.
