“So far, I've been unable to print to this printer from an Acer Chromebook. Even connecting via USB doesn't work. The Chromebook and the printer are both connected to my Wifi and I can print to it easily from a laptop.”

You need to add the printer driver software to the chrome book or use a data cable (printer cable is best). USB won’t cut it. Assuming your printer has AirPrint but does not show when you search for a device on the chrome book, correct?
